Paul: Aussie Millions 2016 Main Event, Day Two Recap. I'm with Jason Somerville. Jason, we were just talking before the camera rolled about the different players busting, a lot of action, so let's start from the top.
Jason: Yeah, Day Two was a day of moving and shaking, you know? This was the first day the field combined. We had three flights for Day One, and then everyone came together on Day Two. We started with around Three50, about half the field remaining of the whole tournament, and we lost about half of the players in Day Two. Our featured table of eight, we lost all but one player by the time the day had concluded. It was an amazing table to get started. We had some of the best and brightest in poker: Pratyush Buddiga, Tony Dunst, Thang Luu, Jeff Gross, and Richard Ashby. Five very accomplished players with three local Australian players joining them and only Tony Dunst survived the bloodbath that was our feature table on Day Two. Paul: Was it hands playing against hands or was it players taking initiative and doing things they normally wouldn't do? Jason: We did see a lot of those sort of big hand versus hand conflicts. Former champion, Oliver Speidel, was actually the chip leader at some point on Day Two but did not survive. Played a huge pot with his pocket queens against Tony Dunst's pocket jacks, jack on the flop, and that would be a tough thing to overcome for Oliver Speidel, so he ended up playing very well but unfortunately lost a couple of those big confrontations and did not survive through the day. Tony Dunst actually, not only did he have the worst hand and won but he also had the best hand and won several times, actually scoring a double knockout against Richard Ashby and Julius Colman. His pocket kings against pocket queens for Richard Ashby, pocket jacks for Julius Colman and kings held, so Tony Dunst ended with about a quarter million chips, despite being one of our shortest stacks in the middle of the day. Paul: At this point in the tournament, I always find that there are players that are starting to stick their heads out, running well, playing well. Of course we know that it can change at any time. Anybody standing out in the wings to you, you know, with you player eyes, if you like? Jason: Sure. Well, there are a lot of players in the field who are still very good. Joe Hachem's still in the field, James Obst, two very well-known Australian players who are crushing it out there. Stevie Chidwick's still out there with a ton of chips. Liv Boeree's still hanging on out there. There are several good players remaining. There's about 160 players or so starting Day Three and this is gonna be an absolutely critical day to come because top 80 get paid.
